Editorial policy
Western Style Review aims to make considered, accurate writing about style and design. We distinguish what can be stated as fact from interpretation, keep language specific, and correct material errors when they are brought to our attention.
Accuracy and corrections
We check names, descriptions and factual claims against suitable sources before publication, and avoid presenting uncertain details as settled. If you spot an error, contact us with the article subject, the point in question and any helpful context. We review correction requests and amend published material when warranted; significant changes are made clear in the piece.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for relevance to readers and fit with the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage or a favourable view. Contributors should disclose relevant interests, and the publication will consider whether those interests need to be stated to readers.
Partner material and illustrations
Sponsored or partner material is identified clearly so readers can distinguish it from independent editorial work. Its label does not imply editorial endorsement. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where that applies, the image is identified accordingly. We do not use an illustration as evidence for a factual claim.
A careful point of view
Style involves judgement as well as description. We explain the basis of an opinion, avoid treating taste as universal, and aim to represent materials, traditions and design choices without reducing them to a single rule.
